Pricing for Custom Portrait Sessions
My portrait sessions typically last 1-2 hours. I tend to shoot “on location” – meaning outside, or at a location that is meaningful to you. If you don’t have anyplace specific in mind, then I can make suggestions, and we see what “clicks”.
I encourage people to consider different outfits during their session. Change tops – add hats – change hairstyles.
Many studios and/or photo places have a minimal sitting fee, and then charge exorbitantly for their prints. My business model is front-end. You are basically paying for my time, service, and expertise.
My sitting fee for portraits is $150. In a 1-2 hour session, you should expect to get AT LEAST 30 good images. This is a lot – but remember, this is your family.
I include web-resolution photos for free – I have found that people enjoy being able to email the photos to their family, post them on Facebook, etc.
We offer a large line of albums, canvas prints, and large prints as well.
As an example of the “deliverable” – here is a link to a family portrait session I did at the Jefferson memorial during the Cherry Blossom Festival:
You’ll see how the background changes, the poses change… If you want, you can even change outfits during the session. I retouch every single image. I fix blemishes, I make sure the skin tones are right, I maximize the potential of every single photo.
With a family, I will also take photos of each of the kids individually, and small groups – mom with the daughters, dad with the sons, etc.
More personality + More poses + A variety of clothing + Varied locations = Better photos!
